The United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM) has released footage from the military airstrike operation that reportedly eliminated senior ISIS leader Abu Bilal al-Minuki in northeast Nigeria.

The operation, carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian military, targeted what officials described as a major concentration of Islamic State fighters in the region.

AIRSTRIKE FOOTAGE RELEASED

The video footage was shared online following the confirmation of the operation by both U.S. and Nigerian authorities.

Security expert Brant Philip also referenced the development in a post shared on 𝕏, stating that the strike successfully targeted several high-value terrorist figures.

According to reports, the operation focused on ISIS-linked fighters operating within northeast Nigeria.

WHO WAS ABU BILAL AL-MINUKI?

Abu Bilal al-Minuki was identified as one of the most senior ISIS figures globally and was reportedly regarded as the second-in-command within the terrorist organization’s structure.

Intelligence reports linked him to:

  • Coordination of extremist operations
  • Strategic planning for ISIS affiliates
  • Support for attacks across Africa and other regions
  • Expansion of ISIS activities in West Africa

TRUMP CONFIRMS JOINT OPERATION

Former U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the operation in a statement posted on his Truth Social account.

According to him, the strike followed extensive intelligence gathering and strategic coordination between American and Nigerian forces.

Trump described al-Minuki as one of the most active ISIS figures involved in organizing attacks and supporting extremist activities targeting both Americans and African communities.

IMPACT OF THE OPERATION

Security analysts believe the elimination of al-Minuki could significantly weaken ISIS influence across Africa.

The operation is expected to:

  • Disrupt terrorist coordination networks
  • Reduce operational capabilities of ISIS affiliates
  • Strengthen counter-terrorism efforts in West Africa and the Sahel region
