The Imo State Police Command has arrested a man accused of allegedly killing his wife and abandoning her body on the premises of a church in Owaelu, Owerri North Local Government Area.
The suspect was apprehended in Ebonyi State after allegedly fleeing the scene, bringing a major breakthrough in the investigation into the woman’s death.
According to reports, the victim’s body was found last Thursday within a church compound in Owaelu after the suspect allegedly fled the area.
The discovery shocked residents and prompted an immediate police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly escaped with two of the couple’s children after the incident.
However, he reportedly left behind a suckling baby, who was later rescued and handed over to a trusted family member for care.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, said the suspect was tracked down and arrested in Ebonyi State.
According to Okoye, the arrest was carried out through a joint operation involving operatives of the Imo State Police Command and their counterparts in Ebonyi State.
