Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after securing re-election in the August 15 governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the poll on Sunday, handing him another four-year mandate.
‘Thank You, Mr President’
Speaking to journalists after his victory was announced, Adeleke confirmed that President Tinubu had personally called to congratulate him.
The governor described his re-election as a victory for democracy and the people of Osun State.
He also used the opportunity to appreciate Tinubu for what he described as his role in ensuring that democracy continued to thrive.
“I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr President. Mr President has called me and he has congratulated me, thank you Mr President for making sure democracy lives on because you fought for it,” Adeleke said.
Adeleke’s remarks come after a closely watched election that attracted significant national attention.
