Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved a three-month extension of Ogun State’s workforce support measures, allowing eligible civil servants to continue enjoying a one-day off-duty work arrangement and a ₦10,000 monthly transport allowance from July through September 2026.
The extension was announced in a circular issued on Thursday and signed by the Head of Service, Olanrewaju Saka. According to the circular, the initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden of commuting to work while encouraging improved productivity across the state’s public service.
The state government explained that the relief package was first introduced between April and June following the increase in petrol prices. With the latest approval, eligible workers will continue to benefit from the palliative for another three months.
The Head of Service urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the arrangement without allowing it to affect service delivery, stressing that the government expects workers to remain committed to efficient and quality public service.
However, the extension does not apply to all categories of public servants. Officers on shift duties and personnel providing essential services remain exempt from the one-day off arrangement.
Those excluded include medical workers, judicial officers, teaching and non-teaching staff in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, security personnel, political office holders, accounting officers, directors, and other officials receiving Special Responsibility Allowances due to the nature of their duties, which require regular physical presence at work.
