A Nigerian man has alleged that police officers subjected him to humiliation, searched his mobile phone without consent and watched intimate videos of his wife shortly after she gave birth.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man claimed the incident occurred after he was stopped at a police checkpoint while rushing to withdraw money for his family following the birth of his child.
According to him, the officers initially questioned his vehicle documents, including his tinted glass permit and roadworthiness certificate, before allegedly demanding money for fuel.
When he told them he had no cash because he was on his way to the bank, he claimed the officers took him to a nearby police office.
“My wife had just given birth, so I went to the market to buy food. They stopped me at a checkpoint and started asking for money. I told them I was rushing to the bank because my family needed to eat. Instead, they took me to their office,” he said.
The man further alleged that one of the officers confiscated his phone, searched through its contents and began watching private videos showing his wife during labour.
He said he repeatedly informed the officer that the woman in the videos was his wife, but claimed his pleas were ignored.
“He started watching videos of my wife while she was naked in labour. I told him it was my wife, but he shouted at me to keep quiet.”
He also alleged that the officers searched his bank account, stripped him, accused him of being involved in internet fraud and later made an unusual request.
“They searched my bank account, stripped me and later asked me to help them complete their building with ₦40 million,” he alleged.
According to the man, the officers eventually returned his documents and released him after he declined their request.
The allegations have since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.
