The tragedy began on June 17, 2026, when Mariam disciplined a pupil for classroom misconduct. According to family members, the punishment triggered a hostile response from the child’s relatives. The pupil’s parents and uncle reportedly stormed the school premises twice once that evening and again the following day—to confront the teacher.
The situation escalated into a fatal attack on June 18. According to Mariam’s elder brother, the assailants intercepted the teacher while she was walking to a local mosque for prayers. In a public display of violence, the group allegedly beat her mercilessly and stripped her in front of community members.
Mariam never fully recovered from the trauma and physical injuries inflicted during the assault. She passed away on June 25, 2026.
The incident has left her colleagues and family in a state of shock, fueling urgent calls for justice. The family maintains that the teacher’s only motivation was to instill discipline in the classroom, and they are now demanding that the perpetrators be held accountable for the act, which they described as both “cruel and humiliating.”
