Kwankwaso responsible for Nigerians’ hardship, Rarara alleges

Rarara Blames Past Governance Decisions for Nigeria’s Economic Struggles

Popular political musician Dauda Kahutu, widely known as Rarara, has accused former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of contributing to governance and economic challenges that continue to affect Nigeria.

Rarara made the remarks during an interview with online platform SL Update, where he argued that some of the country’s current difficulties can be traced to policy decisions made in previous administrations.

Central to his criticism was the issue of local government administration and funding. According to him, restricting the financial independence of local councils weakened grassroots governance and slowed development in communities.

He argued that local government allocations are intended to drive public services closer to citizens and should remain directly accessible for local development priorities.

“Local government funds are the lifeline of the people. They are what bring government services closer to ordinary citizens at the grassroots level,” Rarara said.

He claimed that withholding or controlling those resources outside local councils contributed to setbacks in areas including education, healthcare delivery, water access and rural infrastructure.

The musician further argued that granting local governments greater financial and administrative independence would strengthen governance outcomes and support broader economic growth.

His comments come as debates over local government autonomy continue across Nigeria, with policymakers, legal stakeholders and political actors pushing for reforms aimed at improving accountability and service delivery at the grassroots level.

As of the time of reporting, Kwankwaso and his representatives had not publicly responded to Rarara’s allegations.
