Nigerian security forces have rescued the pupils and teachers abducted by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State on May 15, 2026.

According to the statement, the intelligence-led search and rescue operation concluded on July 9, 2026, following a direct presidential directive and a coordinated operation involving multiple security agencies.

Joint Task Force Led Rescue Mission

The operation was carried out by a Defence Headquarters-directed Joint Inter-Agency Task Force comprising:

  • Nigerian Army
  • Nigerian Navy
  • Nigerian Air Force
  • Nigeria Police Force (NPF)
  • Department of State Services (DSS)
  • National Intelligence Agency (NIA)
  • Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA)
  • Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

The operation was intelligence-driven and coordinated across the participating security agencies.

Victims Receive Medical and Psychological Support

Following their rescue, the pupils and teachers underwent comprehensive medical examinations and received initial psychosocial support.
