Makinde Reacts to Rescue of Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren and Teachers

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has welcomed the rescue of schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted from Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Friday evening, Makinde expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies for their efforts in securing the victims’ release.

Governor Commends Security Forces

The governor praised the commitment of the security agencies involved in the operation, including the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the military.

“We will use this opportunity to thank our service commanders, the Nigerian Police, DSS, the military, and of course, the President (Tinubu) for pushing really hard to get this done,” Makinde said.

Rescue Ends Weeks of Captivity

The rescue brings an end to weeks of uncertainty after the schoolchildren and teachers were kidnapped from Oriire Local Government Area, an incident that drew widespread concern and renewed calls for improved security in schools.
