The Oyo State Police Command says it has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms and ammunition following a security operation linked to highway patrol activities.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the suspects were arrested on June 15, 2026, during routine operations along the Oyo/Ogbomoso axis.
Police identified the suspects as Ibrahim Mohammed Dabban and Ndako Sulaimon, both described as residents of the Sabo area of Sagamu in Ogun State.
Authorities said officers attached to the Safer Highway Patrol intercepted a gold-coloured Nissan Maxima bearing registration number FKJ 666 KA at about 10:48 a.m. during the operation.
The command stated that the suspects were taken into custody and transferred for further investigation.
According to police, follow-up intelligence gathering extended beyond Oyo State and resulted in coordinated operations in Ogun State.
The command alleged that those operations led to the recovery of two pump-action rifles, three live cartridges and one expended cartridge from locations linked to the suspects and another individual described as an alleged supplier.
Police did not provide further details regarding the supplier or announce additional arrests at the time of the statement.
Authorities added that investigations remain ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case and any possible wider connections.
The operation forms part of broader policing efforts aimed at improving highway security and disrupting criminal activity across inter-state transport routes.
